New guided tour programs at the museum Collection

We are launching several new guided tour programs just in time for the autumn season.

Two distinct guided tours will be offered within the framework of "The Mechanical Heart" thematic exhibition: the first program integrates a tour of the exposition in the museum's atrium with a visit to the clock gallery, providing a more profound insight into the history of watchmaking. The second one blends an introduction to "The Mechanical Heart" exhibits with a journey into the world of automata from the museum's exposition.

In the Metal Artworks Hall, a new guided tour titled "Fairy tales in silver" will be introduced. This program focuses on Russian fairy tale motifs, epic folklore plots, ornaments, signs, and symbols derived from ancient Russian culture that laid the foundation for the “Russian Style" in the art of jewelry.

Another tour, "Russian glass and crystal: masters, styles, and rivalry" is dedicated to the history of domestic glass production. In the Artc Glass Hall, we will examine the history of the early manufactories, why their establishment was heavily dependent on dense forest areas, and the strategic significance of crystal production in the formation of the young Russian Empire.

In addition, we have updated and expanded two guided tours that are already familiar to our visitors:
"The Antique Study: The Style of the Epoch" – the program is dedicated to the museum’s collection of small-scale sculptures and decorative arts. It examines them as vital artifacts of a bygone era, reviewing how major historical events influenced trends in the 19th-century cabinet sculptures, interior design styles, and popular accessories.

"Great Names in the History of Horology" – in the gallery of clocks, this tour will focus primarily on the biographies of the legendary watchmakers whose masterpieces are featured in the museum's collection (George Prior, Abraham-Louis Breguet, Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin, James Cox, Pavel Buhre, and others).

Registration for the guided tour programs is available in the Contacts section
