"The Magic Puppet performance" and thematic album for the international Puppetry Day (video)
The idea of celebrating this holiday belongs to the famous puppet-maker from Iran, Javad Zolfaghariho. In 2000, at the XVIII Congress of the International Union of Puppet Theater Leaders (Union Internationale de la Marionnette, UNIMA) in Magdeburg, he suggested to mark the Puppetry Day all over the world. Despite general approval, it took another two years for this holiday to gain official status. The tradition of celebration this Day worldwide was laid down on March 21, 2003.
To mark the holiday we have prepared a thematic album featuring the museum collection of unique music puppets and automata. You can see dolls-musicians and acrobats, musical paintings, mini-theaters and many other prominent exhibits.
We present you "The Magic Puppet Performance" featuring the unique automata stored in the museum Collection that were created by the prominent artisans - Leopold Lambert, Jean Roullet, Henriette Decamps and Henri Decamps.
More exhibits are in the collection section "Amusing Automata". The collection that is consolidated in the Museum is extremely diverse. It continues to be replenished with new exhibits from all over the world.
We congratulate all those artisans and craftsmen that are engaged in puppetry art and wish them creative success and inspiration!
