Prints
The Museum Prints section contains various samples of publishing business of the 19 – 20th century: billboards and posters, postcards and photographs, art books and albums, topical collections of materials on the history of mechanical musical instruments: articles, scraps from old newspapers, catalogues, photographic materials.
The Museum features scenic photos of Russian cities before the Revolution, including rare cityscapes of Saint Petersburg and Moscow of the 19th century. A special place in the section Prints is given to a collection of genre and scenic photos of the Caucasus by photographer Yermakov – the birthplace of David Iakobachvili, the founder of the Museum Collection. The section is complemented by the unique maps of the 18 – 19th centuries, books, lithographs, postcards and books on the history of the Caucasus.
Besides, the collection features old-time photos of the Tsar family members, made by Levitsky and Bergamasco photographic studio, as well as the best samples of portrait and genre photography of the early 20th century.
