The original combined device designed for playing 2-minute and 4-minute cylinders is a solid oak block with a profiled base, with transferred "Edison" inscription and locks for fastening the cover. Semi-circular lid with a handle. On the right side of the body is a handle for the spring plant. On the top black panel with an artistic frame and a label are installed: two cast bearings, mechanisms for driving a cylinder and moving the carriage with an audio box. In front of the cylinder is a vertical cast bar on which the carriage rests, limiting the load on the cylinder. There is a trademark on the bar. Ahead is an oval hole with a lever for switching on/of the mechanism, depending on the type of cylinder. The sound box with a membrane and a needle is connected by a rubber tube with an S-shaped sound duct. On the upper surface of the membrane are inscriptions and serial number. The trumpet consists of two parts, connected by a ring with a locking crochet - a sound duct and a trumpet. Sound duct and ring are metal, trumpet is wooden (oak). There are two trademarks on the trumpet. Manufacturers': a trumpet in the form of a ribbon with an inscription on the background of the lyre and a trumpet; and a stylized trumpet with a trademark. Above is a swivel mount with a spring and threaded stud for suspension to the bracket, the attachment of which is on the rear side surface of the case. The shaft is connected via a transmission mechanism to a spring motor. When the mechanism is turned on, the cylinder rotates, the carriage with the sound box moves along the axis of the shaft. The needle, installed in the groove with the record, causes the membrane to vibrate in time with the profile of the groove, the oscillations are amplified by the horn. Music media: 2-minute wax cylinder and 4-minute cylinder "Edison Amberol".
