The musical automaton, in the form of a slender young man with musical instruments, is mounted on a base featuring a wooden top panel and legs made of metal angle bars. When connected to the electrical grid and activated, the young man begins his performance: he turns his head left and right, tilts his head backward and forward, and moves his right hand, holding a mallet, side-to-side and up-and-down, simulating playing the metallophone. Concurrently, he moves his left wrist with a tambourine, taps the toe of his right foot to activate the lyre, and turns his left foot to add the sound of cymbals. Behind the automaton's back, mallets strike drum membranes, and numerous bells jingle.
