The automaton, in the form of a lady, is mounted on a three-wheeled, blue-painted metal base. When the spring is wound and the mechanism is activated, one of two melodies plays; the lady glides forward on her wheels, turns while moving, turns her head, and moves her right wrist as if fanning herself. Concurrently, she raises the lorgnette to her eyes with her left hand while smoothly turning her head, appearing to look around. These movements repeat several times to the musical accompaniment. A winding crank is in the set.
