«Dancer with Cymbals» embodies the 1920s interest in stage movement and stylized antiquity. The slender figure, dressed in a Greco-Roman-style costume, holds cymbals, while the one-legged stance gives the statuette a sense of light balance. The bronze costume is decorated with silvery lozenges, creating an ornamental rhythm across its surface. Pale ivory on the exposed parts of the body softens the gleam of the metal and emphasizes the chryselephantine technique. The stepped base of light marble introduces the strict geometry associated with Art Deco and provides a calm background for the dancer’s more animated modelling.
