The Spanish Dancer is dominated by a swift turn and a broad gesture echoed by the billowing dress. The bronze garment is modelled in large, deep folds that spread away from the body. The hem is treated with particular freedom: its broad, undulating lines convey the impulse of the dance and heighten the sculptural dynamism. The pale ivory of the face and hands sets the exposed parts of the body apart against the gilded bronze. The light marble pedestal, with its natural veining, gives the work a clear geometric finish.
