Fernando Regazzo
Bronze; casting; patination
28 × 18.5 × 19 cm
Signature “f. Regazzo” and designation “III/IV P.A.” on the base
«Kneeling Girl» is conceived as an intimate bronze statuette in which a calm pose is combined with the soft modelling of the nude body. The low seated position and gentle turn of the torso lend the figure a natural quality, while the generalized modelling keeps attention on the integrity of the form. The patinated bronze surface emphasizes the rounded volumes and subtle transitions of relief without overloading the small work with detail. This interest in a concise silhouette and sculptural clarity is characteristic of decorative sculpture of the first half of the 20th century. A closely related, smaller version of the model is known; a similar sculpture is held by the Museum of Art Nouveau and Art Deco in Salamanca.
