France, Paris
First half of the 20th century
Bronze, marble (pedestal), enamel; casting, patination, painting
41.9 × 38.7 × 44.4 cm
The “Arabian Dancer” is presented seated cross-legged with her head slightly tilted. Her arms are raised to her chest, and a wide drapery behind her back frames the figure, emphasizing her calm, almost symmetrical pose. The costume attracts special attention: the exposed torso is complemented by a belt, long beads, bracelets, and a headdress. The golden surface of the bronze is combined with a silver drapery and bright enamel inserts. Color accents highlight individual details of the costume and enliven the restrained palette of the sculpture. The figure is mounted on a wide rectangular marble pedestal with an expressive natural pattern.
