A rectangular gold and enamel snuffbox with canted corners and a hinged lid. The lid features a multi-figure painted composition in grisaille depicting two groups of people in classical dress within an interior setting. The group on the left, consisting of young men led by a warrior, displays a scroll and addresses the women standing opposite them. The image is framed by a border of pearls and enamel frame with floral and geometric pattern consisting of ovals containing rosettes and trefoils. The sides are decorated with rectangular panels of translucent dark blue enamel over guilloché ground, featuring depictions of attributes such as a quiver, arrows, a wreath, and torches. The surfaces of the canted corners are adorned with rectangular reserves of dark blue enamel over guilloché ground, complete with frame; the corners themselves are fashioned as stylized columns. The side surface of the lid and the lower part of the body are decorated with ornamental border. The base features an octagonal reserve enclosed by two types of ornamental frames, containing a composition on blue enamel ground with two vases and a wreath enclosing a classical profile set between them.
