    Oval-shaped gold snuffbox with a hinged lid. Inserted into the lid is an oval portrait of the Emperor of France, Napoleon, in uniform with insignia, shown in a three-quarter view facing right. The miniature is framed by two borders of blue enamel against matted background; the side surface of the lid is decorated with chased floral ornament. The body is decorated with four rectangular panels containing engine-turned patterns, enclosed by blue enamel frames; the spaces between the reserves feature floral decoration. The base is adorned with an oval medallion containing an engine-turned pattern, with narrow bands of blue enamel and a wide border of floral ornament along the edge.

    The inscription is on the lid inner side: This box // enriched with the portrait of the // Emperor Napoléon // (painted at Elba), // was a gift from him to his sister, the // Queen of Naples // and was presented by her to // Coll Macerone, // the aide de camp and friend of her // husband, Joachim Murat, // King of Naples.
