Rectangular gold and enamel snuffbox with canted corners and a hinged lid with thumb ramp. The walls, corners, and base are covered with dark blue translucent enamel over guilloché ground. The lid features a battle scene depicting a cavalry engagement against the background of a fortress (the "Battle of Vienna" of 1683), executed in painted enamel over translucent blue enamel on guilloché ground.
The composition is enclosed in the border of polychrome enamel with floral and geometric pattern along the edge of the lid.
The snuffbox is housed in rectangular hinged case covered in brown leather.
