A cartouche-shaped snuffbox with hinged lid. The snuffbox bottom, lid, and body (walls) are made of heliotrope and enclosed in gold mount. The mounts of the upper body and the lid are decorated with a rocaille ornament of flaming waves, scrolls, and flowers; the mount of the lower body is smooth and profiled.
