The gold-mounted snuffbox is oval in shape with a hinged lid and a stopper. The body of the snuffbox is made of gilded steel and executed in the Rococo style, featuring rocaille scrolls flanked by shells, sea foam, and ruins. The center of the lid is decorated with architectural ruins and vases, surrounded by stylized trees (firs or cypresses), low hills, and clouds against a gilded background. The composition is enclosed within a lavish frame of rocaille scrolls. The base features a pierced rocaille cartouche with a floral pattern.
