The shaped gold snuffbox features a hinged lid and walls decorated with convex fluting. In the center of the lid is an oval medallion covered in translucent blue enamel over a guilloché ground, featuring an applied diamond monogram "M" of the Russian Empress Maria Feodorovna beneath an imperial crown. Six large diamonds in shaped silver settings are arranged symmetrically on either side of the central medallion. The body of the snuffbox is decorated with engraved and relief chased pattern comprised of floral motifs, scrolls, and shells.
