Lecture: "Handmade rugs – making the right choice"

On July 9 at 6:00 PM, as part of the event series accompanying the thematic exhibition "In the Footsteps of Pechorin", our Lecture Hall will host a meeting with Evgeny Choutko.

The lecture "Handmade rugs – making the right choice" by the exhibition partner, Atelier CHOUTKO gallery founder, will introduce us to the history of textile art.

The rug is the largest object in an interior. This was true in a nomad's yurt and a Persian Shah's palace, and it remains so today. The history of rug-making spans more than 3,000 years. At the meeting, we will reveal how rugs differ, what makes them valuable, and why some end up in auctions and museums while others are discarded.
To do this, we will explore the history of rug-making, look into the secrets of craftsmanship, and draw the line between decorativeness and fine art.

Evgeny Choutko:
Textile art collector, founder of the Atelier CHOUTKO gallery and textile art workshops, organizer of exhibitions, and participant in leading art fairs. Under his leadership, more than a hundred items have been created and restored; the largest rug produced in the workshops measures 36 square meters.

The lecture will be held in the museum's Lecture Hall on the minus 1st floor.
Duration: 60 minutes.
You can register for the lecture on the museum's website in the "Lecture Hall" section or
via the "museum Collection" mobile app.
Attendance with children under the age of 7 is not recommended.
A separate registration form must be filled out for each visitor.
