Day of remembrance and sorrow. We remember, we take pride, we honour
June 22, 1941, is one of the most tragic dates in our nation's history. On this day, the Great Patriotic War began, claiming millions of lives and forever altering the destinies of generations.
Museum Collection joins the nationwide Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, paying tribute to the heroic deed of the Motherland's defenders and home front workers. For our museum, this date is not only an occasion to remember the tragedy of the war's outbreak, but also an important mission to preserve cultural heritage. Through the restoration and exhibition of historical artefacts from that era, we pass on the memory of the peace value to future generations.
We remember those who did not return from the battlefields, and we are endlessly grateful to the veterans for their immortal feat.
On this day of remembrance, we invite you to explore the museum's thematic materials:
In the museum Sound Library, you can listen to the musical selection "Melodies of the war years", which features iconic audio recordings of that era.
The online exhibition, timed to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, showcases a unique collection of Soviet sculpture from the second half of the 1940-1960s, dedicated to the unparalleled feat of the people during the war years.
