Museum Collection supports the International Museum Week #MuseumWeek

This week, the international festival #MuseumWeek starts in the social networks.

Now, more than ever, it is important to feel globally connected. The adopted “togetherness” is the encompassing theme for MuseumWeek 2020. Coming together is fundamentally the only way that humanity can face the challenges of the 21st century. The prosperity of our planet, our people and our societies are all at stake. The health crisis linked to the coronavirus has reinforced our desire to promote this universal message, and to have MuseumWeek be a support for confined populations and for those who fight against this disease. It is important to highlight the power of culture and art. They allow us to create a bond, to give meaning to our lives, and to carry out our strongest aspirations. They allow us to deepen our understanding of whom we are and where we are going, and they are a foundation to our global society.

The MuseumWeek will be based around the format "7 days, 7 themes, 7 hashtags" from May 11 to 17.

# HeroesMW day on Monday May 11, then #CultureInQuarantineMW day inspired by the Getty Museum initiative (#ArtInQuarantine), it will continue on Wednesday with the flagship theme #togetherMW and then with #MuseumMomentsMW to recall memories. Friday 15 will be devoted to climate change with #climateMW and Saturday to #technologyMW that allows museums to extend their reason-to-be on digital platforms. The week will finish with a day devoted to #dreamsMW and hope…

Our #HeroesMW are the sculptors - war veterans, who embodied their military reminiscences in the iconic monuments of the Soviet era. The sculptors’ photographs, interesting facts from their biographies and their creative paths are featured on the page of the museum Collection online exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.

A little earlier, in the early April, the employees of the museum Collection joined the creative flash mob #IsoIsolation and came up with the amusing images on the plot of the museum exposition items.
