The 18th of May - is the International Museum Day

Every year on May 18, International Museum Day is celebrated.

The decision to establish this holiday was initiated by the Soviet delegation at the XI General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), held in Moscow and Leningrad (now St. Petersburg)
in May, 1977.

In 1992, the general theme of the International Museum Day was proposed for the first time.

In 2018, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) chose the theme "Hyperconnected museums: new approaches, new publics".

In other words, this year the International Museum Day is held under the aegis of online technologies, which means: modern approach to the museum business, new audience, digital and interactive events to attract visitors. Within the framework of this day, various unique events will be held in museums, inspired by the chosen theme of the year, with an emphasis on interactive activities, including digital games, the use of various mobile applications.

Festival "Long Night of Museums" is the integral part of the holiday.

We congratulate every single person, that is involved in the museum activities in one or another way, as well as all connoisseurs of culture and art!
