Writing set in the form of miniature piano is in silver and gold-plated casing with cylinder-type music movement. The casing is decorated with open-work metal panels. The ornament is comprised of exotic birds and flowers, dragonflies and mythical creatures and covered with coloured enamel with ornamental stones' inserts. The panels are surrounded by punched frames. Writing set with two round inkpots and a clock between them are under the lid on the front part of the piano. The clock with black Arabic numerals on white dial turns when the lid is opened. The other ornately shaped lid closes the compartment with the writing accessories and winding key. The internal surfaces of the compartments and cover are decorated with the engraved floral ornament. A crown and movement starting lever are beneath. The writing set was manufactured at the second half of the 19th century in Vienna by master Karl Rössler.
