    The clock is mounted in polished cast gilded bronze rectangular case in the shape of a bureau cabinet bottom part, on the base with embossed image of the workshop interior and two medallions with male profiles and protruding cornice. Hand-operated press is in the center, sand-glass and a set of kerns are on the right, books are on the left. Embossed foliage ornament is along the socle upper curved edge. The socle rests on ornately shaped supports with ornament in the form of curls, leaves and flowers on the front side. Onlay griffins-shaped ornament is on the case vertical ribs. Sculptural composition with the figure of the German printing pioneer Johann Gutenberg that designed printing press and found a convenient way of casting letters from the lead, tin and stibium alloy in 1440, seating with half-turned body, wearing long coat with collar, is on the case top panel. Book printing parts and pertinents, engraving tools and pressing paint pad are on the bureau. A plate with the font mirror reflexion is on the left hand palm and a sheet with transfer is in his right hand. A scroll and a stack of books are to the left of the figure.

    White enamel dial with Roman numerals for hours’ designation and minutes’ divisions on the external ring is on the case front panel. Two apertures for winding the clockwork and strike, two blued steel hands are on the dial. Round aperture is in the case rear side. The clock movement is visible behind it, the mark with engraved inscription in italics: “S: WEHL / ST. PETERSBURG” is below.

    The clock movement is pendulum on silk suspension with half an hour strike of the hammer upon bell with the counter on the notch wheel, lever escapement, two spring motors and number “2998”. Two winding keys are in the set.
