On the circular decalcomania: “THE GRAPHOPHONE AND COLUMBIA RECORDS WERE AWARDED THE GRAND PRIZE AT THE PARIS EXPOSITION OF 1900”. On the front decalcomania: “THE GRAPHOPHONE/ PATENTED MAY 4. 1886. DEC. 27. 1887. APRIL 3. 1888. JUNE 10.01890. OCT.16. 1894. MARCH 30. 1897./Columbia Phonograph Co. New York * London * Paris * Berlin”. On the circular plate: “MADE IN U.S.A.”
The nickel-plated panel of the phonograph mechanism supporting chassis is mounted on the top side of a rectangular wooden case. Goldish banner depicting the inscription “THE GRAPHOPHONE” is applied to the front side of the case. A circular brass plate reading “MADE IN U.S.A.” is fixed next to it. Two-spring motor is mounted on the underside side of the chassis.
