On the vertical carriage support: “TRADE MARK THOMAS A EDISON”; on the patent plate: “STANDARD PHONOGRAPH MANUFECTURED UNDER THE PATENTS OF THOMAS A. EDISON, et als, at ORANGE N. J., U.S.A.”, patent dates ranging from October 27, 1896 to October 3, 1905; on the chassis rim: “581567” and “A”. On the edge of the cylinder: “Thomas A. Edison/PAT’D. 4M-15270. “KLINKENDE METEORE” – POTPOURRI. STETTINER SÄNGER”
Cast chassis supporting the phonograph mechanism is mounted on the top cover of a rectangular wooden case featuring molded base. A golden banner logo reading “EDISON STANDARD PHONOGRAPH” is applied via decalcomania to the case front side. The chassis is finished in black enamel and decorated with a border and ornament of fine goldish lines.
