The automaton, fashioned as a lady, is mounted on an oval wooden base covered in burgundy velvet and trimmed with braid along the upper and lower edges, raised on three metal wheels set into cutouts in the bottom hardboard panel. When the spring is wound and the mechanism is switched on, a melody plays: the lady moves in a circle, her parasol spins from side to side, and she raises her right hand holding a lorgnette (pince-nez) to her eyes while smoothly turning her head to the right; she then lowers her right hand and turns her head to the left, with all actions repeating several times to the musical accompaniment.
