The automaton is mounted on flat rectangular wooden stand painted with glossy black varnish and glued over with brown velvet edged with golden braid. Simple wooden chair is fixed on the stand; the acrobat in clown outfit is performing a handstand. The spaces between the legs of the chair are covered with brown velvet panelling. The start button for the automaton mechanism and a keyhole are on the right-hand panel. The mechanism is placed under the chair. The clown is wearing clothes made of fabric with stripes of red, navy, blue and white colours. The shirt, with exaggeratedly large buff sleeves and long hem trimmed with gold braid, is belted with woven goldish belt. Light brown leather shoes and sand-coloured knitted stockings are on his feet. The porcelain head is wearing a three-horned clown hat with is on porcelain head with blond curly hair wig. The face with brown moving glass eyes, with painted eyebrows, eyelashes, smiling mouth and highlighted wrinkles. In the initial state, the acrobat's body takes a horizontal position. The left hand rests on the back of the chair; the right hand is on the seat. When the mechanism is switched on, the figure comes into motion. The legs rise up, the left arm comes off the back of the chair, the figure, balancing on the right arm, turns to the left,  the head turns to left as well. Then the left arm returns to the chair back, the head is turned to the right, and the legs are lowered. The figure assumes the initial position. The cycle is then repeated. All actions are accompanied by the sounds of musical movement with pinned wooden barrel and sound comb. Winding key is in the set.
