    Wooden case in the form of a sarcophagus veneered with rosewood and decorated with floral fragments made using the intarsia technique. The case is mounted on a profiled base with cast gilded corner feet. The lid of the case has a wave-like shape with a flat platform at the top, on which a figured cast gilded grip is fixed. Brass plate engraved with the female name Clarissa Emma Racey is on the lid front side. The lid is locked with a mortise lock and key. An insert covered with white moire and quilted with white ribbon and tacks with decorative gilded caps is fixed in the lid. A packaging holder covered with light velvet, with shaped compartments for storing mother-of-pearl accessories for needlework is under the lid. Ribbons are sewn onto the sides of the tray, allowing it to be removed. The corners of the packaging holder are decorated with gold thread embroidery. The embroidery frames round sockets with mirrored bottoms, in which mother-of-pearl stars with thread wound around them lie.
    The accessories include:

    – Faceted transparent bottle with ground stopper and goldish cap
    – Round mother-of-pearl box with openwork lid
    – Steel awl with gold-plated handle

    – Metal pencil with spare leads inside
    – Gold engraved needle case with floral pattern
    – Curved knife with mother-of-pearl handle decorated with engraving and metal tip painted with blue cloisonné enamel
    – Pen-shaped knife with a mother-of-pearl handle decorated with engraving and a metal tip painted with blue cloisonné enamel
    – Round paraffin tablet between two mother-of-pearl cheeks with the engraved black image of a running dog
    – Seal with handle carved from translucent white stone.

    An octagonal plate of translucent orange stone is inserted into the embossed holder. The plate is engraved with the image of a bird with a letter in its beak and a mirror inscription - ‘REPONDEZ VITE’, 16 items in total.

    The packaging holder is covered with a satin cushion trimmed with ribbon. Inside the case, under the lodgement, there is a musical mechanism with pinned metal cylinder for three melodies and a sound comb with 172 tuned teeth, covered with glazed cardboard case. The mechanism is wound with a key through a keyhole in the case bottom. The levers for turning the mechanism on and off and for turning the automatic melody change function on and off are in case bottom side. The mechanism plays three melodies: a waltz from Weber's opera ‘Oberon, or The Elf King's Oath’ by Carl Maria von Weber, the aria ‘Ditanti Palpiti’ from the opera ‘Tancredi’ by Gioachino Rossini, and the aria ‘Toi que L'oiseau’ from the opera ‘William Tell’ by Gioachino Rossini.

    The set includes 19 items for needlework, a removable packaging holder, a cushion, 2 keys, two envelopes with red wax seals and a label with the titles of the melodies.
