Nude in an armchair
Nude in an armchair

Marble; stone carving, polishing

Incised signature “Stiaccini”
A nude young woman is shown seated in a massive armchair. The calm modelling of the body is contrasted with the more detailed treatment of the furniture and fabric, keeping the figure as the principal semantic and visual focus. White marble allows the sculptor to render subtle transitions of volume, while polishing softens the play of light and shadow across the surface. The armchair functions not only as a piece of furniture but also as a complex sculptural setting that envelops the seated model. The sculpture stands on a rectangular base of breccia marble.
