On an oval base with a smooth plinth and a massive, textured terrain representing uneven ledges of rocky ground, is a sculptural composition depicting an elderly, bearded highlander. Dressed in a cherkeska coat, a shaggy sheepskin papakha hat, and boots, with a sheathed rifle slung across his shoulders, he is riding a horse down a mountain slope. In front of him in the saddle, the rider carries a young mountain woman dressed in an elegant short-sleeved gown, a headdress with pendants, and shoes with curled toes. Straddling the horse in the high-pommel saddle, the Circassian woman holds the horse by the reins.
