A sculptural composition depicting a sentry who dozed off on duty, his hands folded over the butt of his rifle and his head resting upon them. Slightly lower and to the left, from behind a rocky ledge, an old, bearded Turkmen man in a robe and barefoot is creeping up on him, clutching a curved dagger in his right hand. A dog, crouched low to the ground, is growling at the approaching enemy. The group is mounted on an oval base with a smooth plinth and a massive, textured terrain depicting a mountain ridge.
