Sculpture "Bear of Lisino" is dedicated to the real event connected with the Emperor Alexander II hunting near the village of Lisino in 1865. Alexander II, who was a passionate hunter, repeatedly participated in bear hunt not only with a gun, but also with a spear, nearly perished once during a fight with a bear, the size of which amazed even experienced hunters.

In honor of the Emperor’s happy escape from the deadly danger, Nikolay Lieberich created the sculpture "Bear of Lisino". The sculpture was cast single-piece, on order, from 1865, according to the author's model of 1865.

Similar sculpture is stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery.
