Enamel and gemstone egg creation with Mexican fire opal brooch in the Interior--"The Mexican Orchid" is one of a series of enamelled "Egg creations" for which Manfred Wild is known. Decorated on the outside with lavish eggplant purple guilloche enamel on silver, above a base fabricated of optically clear rock crystal quartz.
The hinged lid and stem rimmed with copious amounts of 18K yellow gold. A Mexican orange jelly opal cabochon adorns the top of the egg while a jelly opal in matrix decorates the thumbpiece. The egg rests upon four carved milky white agate petals above a stem decorated with four Russian nephrite jade leaves and 18K yellow gold leaves.
The egg opens to reveal a removable brooch designed in the form of an orchid mounted with four Mexican jelly opals having either colourless or orange body colors, accented with 12 circular-cut tsavorites and 5 diamonds.
