Oval-shaped varicolored gold snuffbox featuring a hinged lid that conceals a tobacco compartment with mirror-polished interior surfaces. The exterior panels of the body are decorated with regular engine-turning, horizontal reeding, engraving, and chasing. The top of the lid and the exterior surface of the bottom are adorned with exquisite applied compositions in the form of lush bouquets and garlands of flowers and leaves, executed in varicolored gold. On the side walls of the body, floral garlands with figures of butterflies are displayed across four reeded panels; the compositions strikingly pass through chased wreaths surmounting the capitals of separating fluted pilasters. The rims of the lid, the base of the bottom, and the side surfaces around the entire perimeter are accentuated by raised ornamental bands.
