An oval-shaped gold snuffbox with a hinged lid. The body is decorated with a paisley pattern frieze and circular medallions containing garden trophies. At the center of the lid is a circular medallion featuring composition from Ovid's "Metamorphoses" depicting Vertumnus and Pomona. The medallion, framed by laurel branches, is set against engine-turned ground; the edge is enclosed by the ornamental border.
