Rectangular gold snuffbox with a hinged lid fitted with a thumb piece. The hinged lid and sides are decorated with rectangular painted enamel miniatures depicting genre scenes: women with children, and household items. The base features a chased composition that repeats the enamel design on the lid, depicting a woman sitting by a hearth with two children. The rim of the lid is decorated with a border of chased floral compositions and smooth shaped reserves; each side is outlined by a geometric band and further embellished with applied leaves.
