An oval gold snuffbox with a hinged lid. The lid features an oval insert depicting a parrot perched on the handle of a fruit basket. The composition is made of colored stones set against a black background. The rim of the lid is accented with a raised, stylized lictor's fasces entwined with acanthus leaves and ribbons. The sides and base are decorated with chased shaped reserves with vignettes inside, set against a matted background.
