Golden rectangular snuffbox with canted corners, the cover mounted with a central circular forest agate panel within a fluted and guilloche frame flanked by panels of engine-turning within a similar border, the sides with similar engine-turned panels separated by pilasters, the base decorated with a relief bright-chased and matted acanthus and feather scroll patera, within similar frame, ground and border, in original green shagreen case. Footnote: Adrien-Jean-Maximilien Vachette was born in 1746, he completed 8 years apprenticeship and was registered as a master in Paris on 21 July 1779, at 3 quai de l’Horloge du Palais.
