A silver pilgrim's flask with a pear-shaped body, a flared neck, a stopper, two chain handles, and an oval base. The lower part of the body is decorated with raised gadrooned flutes, while the upper part features an engraved artistic inscription and date: "EDINBURGH CUP // 1885 // WON BY LORD ROSEBERY'S // 'TOUCH AND GO'". The sides of the body feature raised clusters of grapes and leaves, to which the chain handles are attached. The hemispherical stopper is segmented with flutes and surmounted by a small finial in the form of a vase.
