Gold; chasing, punched work
A gold goblet with a bell-shaped bowl featuring a bulging band at the bottom, set on a conical openwork base with a shaped edge. The surface of the bowl is chased with vertical flutes and decorated at the top with three cartouches containing relief depictions of female figures: Diana with a crescent diadem, holding a hunting horn and a spear; Athena seated on a cannon, wearing a helmet and armour, with a spear in one hand and a shield in the other; and Venus seated and raising a ripe fruit, accompanied by Cupid. The upper rim is accented by a band of vignettes; the bulging band is decorated with plain cartouches framed by rocaille waves and scrolls. The stem is adorned with three medallions featuring half-length portraits of Ceres with a cornucopia, Bacchus with a wine cup, and Mars (?) in a helmet and armor. The remaining space is filled with rocaille decoration.
