    Maker’s mark for Paul Storr: P.S; 2) Sterling silver standard (925 purity): Lion passant within a rectangular shield with clipped top corners and a pointed base; 3) Duty mark: Profile of George IV within an oval; 4) Date letter: Small letter "q" (for London, 1831–1832); 5) Town mark: Leopard's head within an oval shield with clipped top corners and a rounded base (London assay office)

    Silver-gilt campana vase featuring a flared rim, raised on conical stem and rectangular base. The lower section of the vase body is decorated with pelages and acanthus leaves; the midsection features relief antique bearded male heads and torches; the upper section is adorned with trailing grapevines, egg-and-dart molding, and beads.  The vase is fixed on rectangular molded plinth, the sides of which are adorned with applied decorations depicting a laurel wreath surmounted by a bird, and the alliance coat of arms of the Balfour and Maitland families.
