It features a stem in the form of a cast dolphin figure and smooth, circular, stepped base. The surface of the globe is engraved with the five continents, names of geographical features, oceans, and seas, as well as lines for the equator, meridians, and parallels. The globe is housed in rectangular red leather case featuring two hinged doors with applied metal latches and black velvet-lined interior. The inner surfaces of the doors are lined with white fabric.
