    Hallmarks on the inner surface of the plinth, on each side: the maker’s mark "AM" beneath a crown, and "A. MICHELSEN" beneath a crown within the inscribed border; the town mark of Copenhagen in the form of three towers in an oval shield, with the digits "88" indicating the year; the assay master’s mark of Simon Groth (1863-1904) in the form of the interlaced initials "SG" in an oval shield; "1888" in a rectangular shield for the year of assay; an unidentified mark "14:L" in an oval shield

     An equestrian sculpture depicting King Christian IX of Denmark in military attire is fixed on the tall rectangular pedestal. The composition is secured onto a smooth, rectangular base with bevelled corners, the sides of which are decorated with an imbricated (scale) pattern. The pedestal is tall and stepped (two-part), featuring bevelled corners in its upper section and a slightly projecting lower section with four semicircular protrusions.
