Paired single-candle candlesticks from patinated bronze are mounted on pentagonal stepped stone base. Made in the form of tree trunks with branches and leaves, with candle cups in the upper part, the candlesticks are decorated with images of game birds. Two small birds with long beaks sitting on the ground at the trunk root, are on one candlestick. Small bird (black grouse?) sitting on the branch is on the stem of the second candlestick.
These candlesticks could be a part of the
writing set of eight items (inkwell, press-case, paperweight, two candlesticks,
trays for nibs, pencils and pens) made by the sculptor Robert Bach in the
1860-1880s for Robert Kohun bronze
and silverware factory.
