In Tula sewing clamps were made in the form of a box with soft cushion, sometimes with a drawer for needles, and with a clip in the form of a bird. Fabric was pinned with needles to sewing clamp with a pincushion, sewing clamps birds securely fixed fabric for manual stitching. Tula steel sewing clamps were expensive, only well-to-do peasant women and wealthy townswomen possessed them.
