The lower section of the box (body) and the lid are crafted from translucent multi-layered glass in a rich emerald green hue. The glass surface features a pleasant matte, slightly textured finish. The piece is decorated with relief images of trailing mistletoe branches—a classical symbol of good luck and rebirth in European Art Nouveau art. The leaves and stems are meticulously detailed and accentuated with delicate hand-painted gold. The mistletoe berries are highlighted in contrasting white enamel. A wide band runs along the edge of the substantial lid, decorated with a pattern of stylized green enamel leaves and a dotted ornament that visually separates the upper and lower parts of the box. The box features a squat, rounded silhouette that gently widens toward the middle of the body, topped by a slightly convex, snugly fitting lid.
In the early 20th century, such interior objects were used as bonbonnières (for exquisite sweets), as well as for storing face powder, jewelry, or precious keepsakes.
