The jardinière vase features a complex, undulating form reminiscent of a sea shell. The body is decorated with a landscape executed in the monochrome painting technique. The foreground depicts sailing boats, huts by the water, and coastal vegetation. The reverse side shows silhouettes of people on the shore, the ruins of a classical arch, and ship masts in the distance. The surface of the vase is adorned with gilded shell-shaped appliqués resembling sea pebbles. The upper rim is highlighted with gold border.
