Updating the museum Сollection section 'Gramophone Records'

The museum ‘Collection’ repository features virtually all types of musical records of the past: from antique wax cylinders and paper music rolls, on which musical works were encoded by means of perforation, to gramophone records from the early 20th century with the first live music recordings for gramophones and phonographs. The collection vividly illustrates rich history of musical records and their evolution. Rare melodies and authentic sound are presented in the museum ‘Sound Library’.

Today we present the updated section “Gramophone Records”, which has been replenished with gramophone records of the world-famous recording company His Master’s Voice.

His Master’s Voice (abbreviated to HMV) is an American trademark featuring a dog listening to a gramophone. This trademark has been existing for over a hundred years in the music business and is considered one of the most famous in the world. The logo is based on the painting by British artist Francis Barraud, in which he depicted the dog of his deceased brother, nicknamed Nipper.

The amazing story of Nipper, the most famous dog in the music industry, is posted in the ‘Audio Stories’ section.

The museum collection features gramophone records with the famous ‘His Master's Voice’ logo, gramophonesa reproduction of the painting by Francis Barraud, depicting a dog listening to a gramophone, and a commemorative ‘Victor’ pocket watch (1930s).

You can examine photographs of the gramophone records and listen to audio recordings in the ‘Music Records’ section.
