Announcement: new lecture cycle "Astronomy, time and watchmaking art" is launched in the museum Collection

The first lecture of the sequence "Astronomy in Watchmaking" will be held on March 11 at 18:00.

Astronomical observations are impossible to implement without accurate timing. At the same time, it is impossible to determine precise time without taking into account astronomical aspects. References to the science that deals with and examins stars can be found in the works of prominent watchmakers of all times. At the lecture, we will find out how lunar calendars and  zodiacal constellations look like and how these concepts were implemented in the works by skilled watchmakers, we will talk about the term "constellation" and the way contemporary astronomers define, and how the stars, planets and the Sun orbit from the point of view of observers from the planet Earth.

You can enroll  for the first lecture of the cycle "Astronomy in Watchmaking" on the museum's website in the "Lecture Course"section.
