August 8 is the birthday of the French pianist and composer - Cecile Chaminade
Cecile Chaminade was a virtuoso pianist of remarkable ability as well as the most successful of all women composers. Mlle. Chaminade gave the early evidences of musical talent that was marked by many contemporary Romantic composers - Camille Saint-Saëns, Alexis Chabrier , Georges Bizet.
She gave her first concert when she was eighteen. Since that time her numerous compositions of many kinds had attracted attention and won wide popularity as she brought them forward in the course of many concert tours throughout Europe and America.
Cecile Chaminade contracted to record her playing exclusively for the Duo-Art Reproducing Piano.
To commemorate the birthday of the talented pianist and composer, we prepared a musical selection of her compositions, recorded on Duo-Art paper music rolls that are stored in the Museum Collection fund.
The music selection is in our "SOUND LIBRARY".
The pianist biography is in the section AUTHORS.
