A painted enamel image of a semi-draped woman with one breast bared, painting a rainbow in the sky. Enamel image of a flower garland on a greenish background and butterflies on white background are on the lid inner surface. Chased champlevé black enamel ornament is on the side panels. A guilloched field with a chased ornament, a figured polished medallion and an aperture for movement's switching on/off is on the case bottom panel. A sliding lever for the bird’s movement activation is on the front panel. When the mechanism is turned on, the lid automatically opens, a rather large bird in bright plumage appears on the field with a gilded lattice; it swings in place, flaps its wings, opens and closes the beak. The sound movement imitates sonorous bird’s singing. At the end of the program, the bird is hidden in the deepening under the openwork lattice and the lid is lowered.

The movement is spring-actuated, with a fusee - system of stabilization.
